Bologna > Torino, Italia

Travel day. Today we leave Bologna behind and return to Torino. We’ll spend the night in a hotel and then tomorrow we begin childcare duties. It really isn’t that hard. An hour in the morning before Gloria shows up, and another hour in the evening between when Gloria leaves and the night nurse arrives. Saturday, well that’s a slightly different story as there is no Gloria. But, we shall survive.

We have an 11:50 train to Torino. A Frecciarossa 1000 which should arrive in Torino Porta Nuova at 14:20. Not much to do except sit. We were unable to get seats across from one another so playing cards wasn’t an option. We took a taxi to the train station. We probably could have walked it, but it just didn’t worth it for the 10 Euros it was going to cost to get to the train station.

We told the driver that we were  on the Frecciarossa to Torino at 11:50. He immediately said that will be on binario 16, in the underground part of the station. We were impressed. So, he drove us around to the underground car entrance and let us off very close to the escalator which leads down to binario.

We headed down the escalator towards binario 16. Found a bar selling sandwiches and bought one each for the train. We took a second excavator down to binario 16. We had about a ten-minute wait before the train pulled in. We got on board and settled in.

We arrived on time in Torino. We have chosen to stay at the Hotel Roma & Rocca Cavour. The hotel is located in Piazza Carlo Felice just across Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. It is maybe, 500 meters from the train station to the hotel, including the walk through the train station. It is also at the southern end of Via Roma which means it has access to all the major sights in Torino.

This is out first time at this hotel. I chose it because of its proximity to the train station and the fact it was 110 Euros for the night for a deluxe room. It turns out it is a really good choice. The room is large, bright and airy. Comfortable bed and a whorl pool bathtub. We got ourselves organized and rest for a minute, the took off for Serra and Pietro’s.

We walked down Via Roma, stopping at Apples Store for a new charging card for my phone, the Bialetti for a new Moka Pot, one we will leave in Torino for future trips, and at the Nespresso store for an aeroccino 4, electric milk frother, which we will also leave behind for future trips. We also stopped at Aqua e Sapone on Via Po, in the hopes of getting some bath salts, but also some soap for washing clothes, one of tomorrow activities.

We stopped at Signorvino and had a bite to eat. Serra asked us to stop at the market and get sugar for making brownies. Then we headed to their house. We got there just after it had gone 18:30. Luisa was just getting home with Gloria. We stayed until 19:30 and made a graceful exit. We walked back to the hotel and called it a night.

Buonanotte e ciao,

Enrico e Maria
