Cruising the Amdaman Sea
Days 78 & 79
It seems strange but we have less than sixty days remaining on the cruise. The strange part is believing we are more than half way though the cruise. It seems like yesterday we boarded in Miami. So much has changed and so much has stayed the same.
The cruise was supposed to go through the Suez Canal and enter the Mediterranean, now we are going around Africa and will finish in Lisboa. There are a number of people unhappy with the change. We really wanted to go through both canals on this trip but we have been to many of the places in the Mediterranean. It is difficult to be mad at the cruise line. The war isn’t their fault. We are fairly confident that around Africa is going to cost them a lot more.
So, around Africa we go. We tried to get a side trip to Victoria Falls, but they were all booked when it came our turn. We called Diane in Cape Town and ask if she could help us out. She couldn’t but she did have a friend, Diane, who could. A little whole later we were connected with Diane.
We now have an excursion to Victoria Fall from Maputo, Mozambique. It is a month away but it is locked now. We have talked to several people who have been to Victoria Fall and they all say it is amazing. We’ll jump ship in Maputo and rejoin it is Cape Town six days later. We now have 51 countries under our belt, and now will get to add two more, Zimbabwe and Zambia. We will definitely hit a total of sixty before the cruise is over.
Most of the time these two days at sea have been spent working out the details of this side trip and planning future trips. A lot of resting up for Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and India which come up in quick succession next week. It’s almost April! Where does the time go. Changing the clock almost nightly is difficult. A half hour one way, then back again, the an hour the other direction, then back a half hour. The electronic watches just don’t keep up with the changes. The ship schedules the changes for two am, but the truth is probably something entirely different.
Going to call it here.
Buonanotte e Ciao, Enrico e Maria.
