Cruising the Arafura Sea
Buongiorno, another beautiful day is rising over the horizon. How is that the sunrises still continue to fill one with awe? Looking at it you can only believe it is going to be a beautiful day.
The first thing this morning is a walk. Woke Mary up at 7:30 and took off for the track on Deck 12. We managed to get six circuits completed, about 3,000 steps before either coffee or breakfast. Well at least for Mary. I was at the coffee connection at 6 for my cappuccino and brioche. Sunrise was just before 6:30 so I got to watch the whole show this morning.
After our walk we went to La Veranda for breakfast. There is a Speaker Series at 10. Brian Unger will present “The Little Red Dot: The Implausible Singapore Success Story”. The history and background for our Singapore visit. Fascinating.
Carol Baxter will present us with the Story of Jay Prochnow immediately following Brian at 11. It is his story of his flight from the United States to Sydney Australia in a Cessna. A crop duster in fact. His navigation systems fail; this is way before GPS. We are talking directional finder and maps. He ends up lost come where over the South Pacific Ocean with his full tanks on empty and it is completely dark. There is a movie for those who want to follow up. It is called the “Mercy Mission: The Rescue to Flight 77”.
I stopped Carol after her talk and invited her to our next writers workshop. Then I sent Dana an email asking her to invite Carol to the workshop. We’ll is if that works. It would be interesting to hear Carol talk. She has written several books including on how to turn family history into non-fiction stories so you can pass them down.
Speaking of writers workshop there was one this afternoon. Carol did show up and spoke to us for an hour. Unfortunately, the Observation Lounge had Name that Tune at 3, so we got cut short. But Carol did give me some ideas on writing. Maybe all this will improve?
We had dinner in La Veranda. After dinner we attended the night’s entertainment. Vov Dylan, a virtuoso violinist presented an all new show. He was great.
That is it for our day at sea. Tomorrow is Darwin.
