Kansas City, MO

Tuesday. Jus a few errands today. Go down to the River Market to the Italia Deli and pick-up salami and cheese. First there was a few groceries to be got a Whole Foods. Up and at it early. Wanted to get to Whole Foods when they opened at 07:00; in the hopes of beating the crowds.

My shopping list includes things for Oliver to make his Mac-n-Cheese dish for Thanksgiving and a few last-minute things for Rochelle. It was cold walking over to the streetcar. Just missed a streetcar, it will be ten minutes until the next one. Should I wait or should I walk? It’s only 06:15, the electronic board says the streetcars are running every ten to twelve minutes. The streetcar is warm. Waiting seems prudent.

Waiting and walking up and down the platform in an effort to keep warm. It’s maybe 0C (32F) but the wind blowing off Brush Creek is strong and cold. The signs on the platform block some of the wind but it is still cold. Walking seems to help. Oh goodie here comes the streetcar!

Opening the door at Rochelle and IV’s just as it went 06:30. Time enough to have my morning cigar and walk to Whole Foods and be there when it opens at 07:00. Arrived at Whole Foods just before it opened. There were maybe six or seven other early shoppers waiting at the door when I got there. Inside the store the staff was busy stocking or restocking the shelves.

When in, found most everything. Had one of the staff help me find the cheese Oliver needs. With everything in the bag, it was back to the house to put it all down. Time to get back to the apartment before 08:00 and have nonna’s coffee ready for her.

Made Nonna her coffee. We then went to Winstead’s for breakfast. Nonna had the blueberry pancakes and I stuck with the eggs, toast, hashbrowns and a piece of ham. Again, not bad and very cheep. Came back and got ready to head over to the house.

Went back to the house about 10:00. Took the car to the River Market to Carollo’s Deli. Picked up a variety of salami and some mozzarella for Oliver’s Mac-n-cheese. Drove back towards the house and decided to stop at Messenger’s Coffee and Ibis Bakery for bread for the holiday. Got a country loaf, polenta bread, ciabatta, two baguettes, two almond croissants and two plain croissants. Then it was back to the house.

Harry V and Nonna were going out to lunch at the Capitol Grille. I just hung out at the house. Nonna went back to the apartment. I joined Rochelle, IV, V and Grace and went to Grace’s friend’s house for dinner. Thai food! It was a nice evening. Afterwards Harry IV dropped my off at the apartment.

We played a game of cards and called it a night.

Buonanotte e ciao,

Enrico e Maria
