Sunday – Happy Birthday to Taylor now 44 years young

Managed to sleep until 06:30. No discomfort from the shots yesterday. At a little after 07:00 I walked to the streetcar stop at the Plaza for the morning ride down to Messenger’s Coffee for the morning cappuccino and brioche. This morning Mary gets a cinnamon roll.

Mary was just waking up when I got back to the AirB&B at 08:25. Putt the cinnamon roll in the microwave and turned on the coffee machine. I worked on the blog and planning for the fall 2027 Safari. It is looking like we’ll be in England from late September to early October visiting England with Leander while his parents are on their 20th anniversary honeymoon. Still waiting for the confirmation of dates.

We moved the Safari to start October 17th. We are now waiting on Jana from NextAdventure to see if that is going to work. 2027 will be a busy year. Followed up with John about the post Galápagos trip to Peru. The flights between Ecuador and Peru weren’t showing up any where. John responded that they aren’t fixed until thirty days before the cruise.

We drove out to Scheels in Overland Park. The boys wanted somethings for sports and the girls wanted to ride on the Ferris wheel. Although Amanda wasn’t tall enough to do so. Rochelle and Grace rode with Luisa. Scheels has a Ferris wheel in the middle of store. Scored a new bathing suit and a pair of shorts. Turns out the band on the hanger for the shorts showed one size but the shorts were smaller. Now we have to go back and exchange them.

Returned to the house. Ate celery and peanut butter for lunch. Watched some TV and took a nap. Mary, Rochelle and IV took Pietro, Serra and the girls to the airport for their flight back to California.

Dinner was at the house. IV cooked some tri-tip steaks for dinner. He used his fancy Yoder smoker to cook them. Mary made the peach salad from the New York Times recipe. About 18:00 a thunderstorm moved into the area a brought with it a nice cooling rain. According to the TV it has been over 90 degrees for a week. The record was set in 1897 with 14 continuous days over 90. Why do these records occur while we are here? Several years ago, when we were here for Christmas, there was a record for the number of days of continuous snow fall and amount of snow.

We took an Uber back to the AirB&B and managed to get here just before the heaviest rainfall began. We played canasta and called it a night.
