Torino, Italia
Today is an easy day. I did laundry this morning. Mary & I Played some cards. Then we walked down the street, Via Vanchiglia, to the Trattoria Toscana. We have walked past this restaurant a number of times and it always looked interesting, so we decided to stop one time. Glad we did.
The ossibuchi di santo alla senese con polenta was really good. Mary had the polpette con polenta and zuppa con fave e pasta. For desert we shared a crema al caramello. It was all very good. Which is probably why there are always people in there. The menu isn’t huge, which is usually a sign of a good kitchen. Do a few things well, it better than trying to please everyone.

After lunch there was time for a pisolino. Damilia cam by and we played cards. We finished up our plans for the trip to Legnano. Booked the train tickets and hotel. Worked on the plans for the olive harvest. We now know it will be November 1st to the 9th.
The only problem with these dates is that November 1st is All Saints Day and holy day of obligation for the Catholic Church. This means everything is closed. Now when this happens on a Sunday, it isn’t a problem. However, when it happens on a Friday it means travel can be difficult, at least here in Italy.
It is only a problem because, again in Italy, that means Saturday would be a holiday as well. We’ll, actually it is All Souls Day (the day of the dead). Now if Friday and Saturday are holidays, and things are usually close don Sunday anyway, that, again in Italy, means Monday is a holiday for a lot of people. Although Monday is not officially a holiday. The point is we can’t rent a car on the 1, 2 or 3 of November. We will go to Firenze on the 31 as our lease is up. Stay in a B&B in Firenze, then go to Loro Ciuffenna on Monday the 4th.
We also did some planning regarding after the harvest. We are going to Siena and go to school for two weeks.
We visited Lulu in the evening and talked about making dinner for them tomorrow. Then it was home to bed. A very nice relaxing day.
Buonanotte e Ciao, Enrico e Maria
