Milano, Italia > Torino, Italia

Nothing exciting today either I am afraid. We were both sick to our stomachs this morning. We decided that the chicken wasn’t quite right last night. That is what Imodium is for, and why we travel with adult diapers. Just in case.

We hung around the apartment until 13:00. Then we when downstairs and out the front door to the trolley stop just a couple meters from the apartment building. We took the #15 trolley to Duomo. We used our credit cards to tap on and tap off. Then we got on the #3 Metro line and took that to Milano Centrale. It is only about 4.5 to 5 km form the apartment to Centrale. It is cold outside and we are old, so we used public transportation.

It took us less than 45 minutes to get to Centrale. Our train was at 15:02. It was not quite 14:00. They are sprucing up the city getting it ready for the Olympics which start in two weeks. They have redesigned the access to the train level at Centrale. There used to be a moving sidewalk which took you “upstairs” to the train level. They are replacing it with escalators. Looks more modern, is probably faster, but more difficult with suitcases.

We stop at one of the bars in the train station and get some 7-Up and tea to drink and split a croissant with ham. Neither of us is very hungry. As it turned 14:30 we headed down to the train platform. Scanned the ticket on our phone and walked through the gate. We stood around for about twenty minutes until the train arrived. We headed to the platform, #6, where the train was coming in. Car two, our car, is at the far end of the platform.

Quite a few people vacated Car 2 before we could start to get on. We got on found our assigned seats and planted ourselves for the hour ride to Torino Porta Nova. We got to Torino just as it went 16:00. We exited the station, found a taxi, and headed to NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina hotel. Harry IV and family stayed here when we call came for Christmas in 2023.

We are just here for the night. Tomorrow we will be at Serra’s by 09:00 repack our bag there. Grab Harry V’s extra suitcase and catch the 13:00 train back to Milano. Where we will meet Harry V coming back from Roma. He should get there about 40 minutes after we do. Then we’ll head back to the apartment.

Tonight, we are still recuperating and relaxing after a day of travel, ok a couple hours. It is all of 4°C (39° - 40° F) outside, and according to the weather app there is a really good change of snow shortly.  Going outside for dinner doesn’t really fit into our lifestyle tonight. We’ll probably do down the bar here in the hotel. They have some appetizers which looked good, and that is probably all we are interested in anyway.

We went down to the lobby bar about 18:30. Mary had a martini and I had a glass of port. We ordered a ham & cheese toast and a caprese salad. This was more than enough dinner for us. The bar had a few people in it when we arrived but by 19:30 the place was packed, and not just with people from the hotel but people obviously not staying at the hotel. Lots of heavy coats and dogs as pets.

We finished up just before it had gone 20:00 and headed up to the room. I just couldn’t stay awake, So I took a nice warm shower, put on my pjs and headed to bed.

Buonanotte e ciao,

Enrico & Maria
