Good morning. We agreed to be at Serra’s at 09:00 to watch the girls until the nanny arrives at 10:30. We were just a few minutes late getting to Serra’s. Mary left me with the girls at 10:00 to get her hair done. Luisa just sat and watched cartoons. Amadea sat for a little while, then Serra left and Amadea went into full melt down. Nothing seemed to please her. Rocking, singing (ok my singing is so great but I had to try something), let her lead me around the apartment, but nothing worked. Even turning my hearing, aids off did not help in controlling the crying.
The nanny showed up at 11:00 and took Amadea in the stroller. Now Amadea wouldn’t let go of my hand. She wanted to stay with me and not go for a walk. However, it was time for her to go for a walk. Pietro arrived back at the apartment just a few minutes after the nanny left with Amadea. Mary got back just before 12:00.
We stayed on until 14:00 the walked back to the hotel. On the way back we stopped at Agrisalumeria Luiset and picked some pork chops for dinner, and a salami for Luisa. Then we continued on to the hotel. Mary took a nap while I worked on my blog.
Just before 17:00 we headed back to the apartment. Mary made apple sauce. I heated up some leftover vegetables and grilled the pork chops. The apple sauce was runny. We decided that it was because they were so fresh they contained more water than the ones we get in California.
We had dinner. Mary did the dishes. And we snuck out of the apartment at 19:45 and headed to the hotel. We got back about 20:00 and that was our day. Not a very interesting one, but they can’t all be.
The decision did come down that we are going to Tenerife on the Canary Islands for Christmas. I spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to get there from San Francisco. Looks like it will be a 13-to-30-hour flight depending on which route you take. We are opting for 14 hours from SFO to Montréal to Tenerife. It is a little more expensive than the 20-to-30-hour flights but we’re not sure we can manage on a longer flight.
