Travel Day
Spelt a little later than normal this morning, it had gone 07:30 by the time I got to Starbucks and ordered my cappuccino and bacon and Gruyère egg bites. I then walked back to the hotel, woke Mary up, packed everything up and got ready to go. V had left for Memphis by Uber at 04:00 to make a flight to Chicago and then on to Madison. He wanted to be back in Madison for the 49ers game.
I drove to campus and picked up Grace at her dorm, Minor Hall. We then drove back to to the Starbucks on W. Jackson. It was a complete mad house. So Grace and I put together a mobile order and placed it. The app told us it would be 25 – 30 minutes. Given the crowd, which was worse than yesterday, that unfortunately seemed reasonable.
The order slowly got completed. We sat outside and enjoyed our drinks and breakfast. Just after it has gone 10 Rochelle left us to start her drive back to Kansas City – 7 ½ to 8 hours away. Mary, Grace and I drove to Chicory Market, a southern version of a health food/hippy market not far from the square. We helped her stock up on things for the net couple of weeks until her mom returned for Grace’s Sorority’s Parents Weekend on October.
On the way back to her dorm we asked if there was anything else she needed. And since we were offering she suggest it might be nice to go to Kroger’s to get some bottled water. So, we drive to Kroger’s. After Kroger’s we took Grace back to her dorm, unloaded the car, and said our goodbyes. We were then off for out hour to an hour and a half drive to the Courtyard at the airport in Memphis.
It had just gone 13:00 when we arrived at the hotel. We were lucky because our room was ready and we could check in. We cleaned out the car and then I took the car back to the Avis counter at the airport. Then I caught the shuttle back to the hotel. Easy peasy.
Once back at the hotel I took a nap. Then proceeded to get things ready for the morning. We have made reservations on the 07:30 shuttle to the airport. It’s only about 10 – 15 minutes away, but V said it took him a long time to get through check-in and security. Our flight boards at 09:30.
About 18:00 we went down to the Bistro just off the lobby and had dinner. Chicken wings and a quesadilla. After dinner I borrowed a lighter from the chef and went outside and had a cigar. It had sprinkled a little so it was cool enough to actually enjoy the cigar.
Everything was packed and ready to go for the morning. We did our DuoLingo and then headed to bed at 21:00.
Buonanotte e ciao,
Enrico e Maria
