Wednesday – Day 10
Other than that, another day at sea, actually the fourth of five days at sea, on the SS Mariner and still heading to Hamilton, Bermuda.
After breakfast, Mary went to a lecture entitled “The Surprising History of the British Empire”. She is still amazed at how much of the world the British once ruled. It is actually amazing that they did it. It is also how sad that they ruled more by economics than anything socially good.
We played a game of canasta in the card room between Mary’s lecture and lunch.
There was an Indian Themed lunch buffet at the pool grill. We skipped that and headed to La Veranda. Just a salad for lunch. Not very hungry. I have started another attempt to go gluten free. I even registered myself at the front desk as gluten free so I could pre-order gluten free meals. We’ll see how long I can hold out. Maddie says it takes like six months for the gluten to work itself out of your system. If I could only be that strong.
There was another Seven Seas Society pre-dinner event at 17:45 for top tier guests, for which we now qualify. Christ Hamilton, the piano man, and Shimi Goodman, a tenor, put on a show called Taino. Yes, a combination of Tenor and Piano. It was actually very good.
Dinner was in Compass Rose. A cigar after dinner out on the aft of the ship. Quite nice out. We managed to stay up until 21:30; we were able to do in part because the clock turned back an hour. The show was called Tuxedo. It wasn’t all that good and now we know why we don’t bother with the shows much.

Another quite day, just sailing along.
