Thursday – Day 11
We have arrived at Hamilton, Bermuda.
After breakfast, we went up to the observation lounge to observe our arrival. It was very impressive and took over an hour to reach the dock. The captain did an amazing job of threading he ways between the islands leading into Hamilton Bay. We actually docked right next to downtown Hamilton.

Unfortunately, we booked very late and the excursions we might have wanted to take were all booked. This isn’t like any of the islands we encountered on the world cruise. This is an island covered in houses. Yes, lots of green trees and the occasional large lawn, but completely developed.
We completed docking about 10:30. Mary and I got off and went for a walk along Front Street, which, believe it or not, is the street along the front of the dock area. As we exited the terminal there was a local guide to help people find things. We asked about where to eat lunch. I asked about fish and chips, and she suggested the Hog Penny on Burnaby Street not very far away.
Almost everything is uphill from Front Street, and we weren’t inclined to go mountain climbing, even little hills, but we did make the climb. The Hog Penny might best be described as a typical British Pub. We went inside and sat down. After looking over the menu, we ordered lunch. I couldn’t find much that was marked GF (Gluten Free), so I ended up with an arugula, apple and candied pecan salad. Mary ordered a turkey club, which can with French fries. It was all very good.

After lunch we walked, what I am guessing is, west along front street. There were a few stores along with several restaurants. Everything was really expensive, but that is generally island life; probably more so two or three days sailing from any major land fall. We went into a supermarket just to check the prices out. It was really expensive.
Afterwards we made our way back to the ship and headed for a nap. We played cards again. Then we went to the Grand Deck Barbecue on the pool deck at 18:45. It would have been nice except it was already dark and the wind was blowing. You couldn’t really see what they were serving or read the name tags near the dishes.
We got some sliced sucking pig, which was very good. I managed to get some gluten free bread and make a little sandwich with the pig and some BBQ sauce. After dinner we went back to our suite. I went and had a cigar on the tail of the ship. Then it was bedtime.
